Shogun students make Canada proud

Students from the Shogun Dojo in Smithers have been representing Canada at the World Karate and Kickboxing Commission in Orlando, Florida.

They’ve helped the team bring home 21 medals, including four gold and four silvers.

“Little Smithers has big athletes,” says Head Instructor and National Coach Marwan Abu Khadra.

Even though Smithers and the dojo are in a remote area, Abu Khadra says the dojo holds all the keys to success.

“You have to have the opportunity, and the opportunity means training, contact, coaching as well. If you don’t have that then, of course, we will stay small. Fortunately for us, we have the connections and that works well for us.”

Results are still being finalized, Moose FM will have more as the details are announced.
