Houston RCMP are reminding drivers to lock their vehicle and ensure it’s not left idling.
On January 3rd, police in Jasper, Alberta arrested 28-year-old Riley Lafontaine a day after a vehicle left unlocked and idling was stolen by a male from Ninth Avenue in Houston.
He is charged with theft of Motor Vehicle, Possession of Stolen Property, and Flight from Police.
Police said they learned the vehicle and suspect crossed into Alberta through an investigation.
After crossing the provincial border, Lafontaine and the vehicle were discovered before he fled from responding officers on foot and stole another vehicle.
He remains in custody pending trial and no further information is available.
