Phone scandal and a stolen Chainsaw; New Hazelton RCMP Report

New Hazelton RCMP responded to 55 calls between November 12th – 18th.

Last Thursday night, police received a report of an SUV in a ditch.

The driver was travelling near Moricetown alone when the vehicle slid off the road.

The driver went to the hospital with minor injuries.

Residents reminded to drive safely in the current cold and snowy conditions.

On November 14th, Police received a report of a stolen chainsaw.

It was taken from the 3200 block of Birch Avenue in Kispiox throughout the night.

If you know anything, RCMP asks you to call them or Crime stoppers.

RCMP are also warning residents of an ongoing phone scandal.

Victims receive a call from someone claiming to be the Canadian Revenue Agency claiming the victim will be arrested unless they make a payment.

The Canadian Revenue Agency has confirmed that this is now how they conduct phone calls.

If you receive this call, hang up and call the CRA.
