The Smithers Steelheads and Hazelton Wolverines came up on the short end in their first playoff game in the Central Interior Hockey League.
On Friday, the Wolverines lost 5-2 against the Prince Rupert Rampage.
On Saturday, the Steelheads dropped an 8-3 decision to the Williams Lake Stampeders.
This weekend the playoffs continue with the second games in the best-of-3 series.
The Wolverines visit the Rampage in Prince Rupert on Saturday while on the same day the Steelheads play in Williams Lake.
A 3rd game, if needed, would be played on Sunday.
