A pair of Smithers girls are heading to Kamloops to compete in the Youth Bowl Canada provincial championships.
Peyton and Kalene Pettigrew qualified during a tournament in Smithers on Sunday for the junior girls teams division.
“It’s a different experience for me since I have only been in singles, and this is a team event,” Peyton said.
Both girls have competed in provincial bowling tournaments previously with this being the first time they’ve bowled as a team in juniors.
“I’m a little nervous because we haven’t bowled at Falcon Lanes before but it’s a great experience. Hoping for the best and making it to Nationals,” Peyton continued.
Coach and Father Juston Pettigrew said he’s proud the girls have been able to attend these competitions.
“It’s different when you’re a parent watching the events because there’s not much you can do but as a coach, it’s a lot more stressful and a lot more falls on you,” he said.
The tournament runs March 1st and 2nd at Falcon Lanes.
