The Town of Smithers is looking at applying for a grant towards the Princess Street Upgrade Project.
In November last year, council chose to go ahead with one lane of on-street parking and a separated multi-use pathway from Fulton Avenue to Sixteenth Avenue.
The multi-use path is expected to cost $686,000 and hope to get $411,000 from the Ministry of Housing, Infrastructure, and Communities Canada Active Transportation Fund.
$275,000 would come from the town’s 2025 Capital Budget.
Costs for upgrading the roadway, curb and gutter installation, and storm drainage improvements are not included.
Town council will decide if they go ahead with applying for the grant tomorrow. (Tuesday)
