With the warmer spring weather, more RCMP officers are taking to Smithers streets on foot.
This is with the Smithers Community Safety Officer which started on Thursday.
“Foot patrols allow us to engage directly with the community, offering a level of accessibility that vehicle patrols cannot provide,” said Seargent Ryan Law.
“This increased presence not only helps us address safety concerns and enforce laws but also plays a key role in crime prevention.”
Police added this is also to increase their relationship with the public, wanting to collaborate with the community and hear their concerns.
“With the warmer weather bringing more people outdoors, it’s essential that we remain visible and proactive in ensuring a safe environment for everyone,” said Staff Seargeant Mark Smaill.
Anyone with public safety concerns is asked to contact the Smithers detachment.
