Thirteen projects were approved for the Smithers 2025 budget at tonight’s (Tuesday) council meeting.
The largest sum was for the Princess Street Redevelopment at $2.7 million approved.
This would come from the Resource Benefits Alliance (RBA) funding to allow construction through the summer and fall.
$1.5 million from the RBA towards a building new CN watermain to the Hudson Bay Mountain reservoir expected to be completed this fall was also approved.
Other construction projects for this year include watermain looping on Carnaby Road ($400,000), and funding towards the Sidewalks and Mobility program. ($675,000)
Funding was also approved for a temporary garbage truck ($200,000) and a new Vactor truck. ($760,000)
While these projects have received funding in this year’s budget, the last budget meeting is set for April 7th.
