A Lakes District Secondary School woodworking project is looking out for your pets this winter.
Students have made over 40 doghouses this semester, each complete with insulation.
The hound homes even come pre-drilled making transporting and home-assembly easier.
Shop Teacher Dirk Hofer says this type of applicable learning spans further than the classroom.
“It’s part of being a responsible person, kind, and just being involved in teh commuity as a whole,” he says, “some kids help out with the food bank, some kids help out with other projects that benefit other people in the community. This is just one of many.”
Proceeds from the structures will benefit the Lakes Animal Friendship Society.
