Steelheads snap losing streak with win Saturday

The Smithers Steelheads snapped a two-game losing streak over the weekend, beating Kitimat 6-3 at home.

The offense was lead by team scoring leader Brendan DeVries, who potted four goals on the night.

Having now played 8 of the 16 games on the schedule, Coach Tom DeVries shares his expectations for the second half.

“We’re playing so well. Hopefully, it keeps up and obviously we want to get some more wins but just stay sharp and hopefully we can field enough bodies every game [and] get everybody rotated in there to play,” he says, “just keep on going!”

The Steelheads will now focus on a busy December. They’ll play 5 games next month, including 4 in a nine day span.

They’ll head to Quesnel and Williams Lake next weekend.
