Food donations this weekend will score you hockey seats.
The Smithers Steelheads will accept non-perishable food items as admission for Sunday’s home game against the Quesnel Kangaroos.
Coach Tom DeVries says it’s a thoughtful way to cheer on the local team.
“Do two things at once. You can donate some food and you can go watch a game. Maybe you’ve never been to a game before but I think it’s one of the most exciting things in town for sure,” he says.
Puck drop Sunday is at 1:30 PM.
The Steelheads also play on Saturday night against the Lac La Hache Tomahawks at 7:30 PM. This game will be normal admission.
