The BV Pool is celebrating a quarter century in Smithers this month.
The centre opened on December 23, 1990, after years of planning and fundraising.
Expansions came years later. The court and climbing wall were added in 2001, and the permanent hot tub installed in 2006.
Manager Tamara Gillis says the pool wanted to recognize all the hard work that went into creating it.
“‘Hey, we’re still here,’ and it’s still an amazing facility that is really well used by our community and we just want to make sure everyone’s aware,” she says. “We also want to really congratulate and say ‘thank you’ to the people that made it happen.”
The pool will have a celebratory Aquafit class, $2 admission, cake, and climbing wall opportunities next Wednesday. 10-passes will also be one sale.
