Steelheads effective power play spells a win on the Coast

The Steelheads had a big 6-3 win in Prince Rupert Saturday, thanks to five goals with the man advantage.

Tied 1-1 to start the third, Smithers preyed on a 5-minute Rampage penalty, in which the fish scored four goals.

Coach Tom DeVries says the third-period power play was the turning point.

“We had a lot of pressure on them in the second period. In the third we had that period so it worked out. They just started going in,” he says.

Zack Davies had two of the three PP goals to start the third. He later assisted on a Brendan DeVries goal and finished with three points. DeVries added another two assists to finish with three points himself.

The Steelheads will enjoy a holiday break. They’ll hit the ice again January 9th in Kitimat.
