The Pleasant Valley Theater will hold its final showing later this month.
The Houston theater was most recently opened in 2012. The location has been an on-and-off cinema for nearly 40 years.
Co-owner Kyle Thomson says he’s disappointed he has to close.
“It hasn’t panned out the way myself and (other co-owner Eric Bishop) expected it to pan out so it’s been a tough three years,” he says.
He says low attendance played a major factor in the decision.
“We’ve had lots of nights where there’s just nobody there. We were expecting a lot more attendance. It just wasn’t supported.”
The last movie will play on January 31st.
The bowling alley and lounge will remain open.
