3rd annual ‘Winterfest’ running in Houston this weekend

The District of Houston is getting ready for the third annual Winterfest.

Councillor Dawn Potvin says the weekend is produced by Houston ACT Committee. “We put it along the family day weekend since it’s a weekend in the winter that people might not be able to travel for.”

It all kicks off with a sledding party and bonfire behind the high school on Friday at 6pm.

“We wanted to put as many activities as we could in a weekend that are accessible, affordable and tons of fun.” Potvin said “So all the events from Friday to Monday are free.”

The weekend will close with a ‘Guns vs Hoses’ RCMP / Fire Department hockey game on Monday.

Free shuttle service will also be available all weekend to bring families to the events around town. The route will have stops at; NW Community College, the Telus Building, the Chamber of Commerce and the Community Hall every 30 minutes.
