The town of Smithers, Northern Health and the Bulkley Valley Social Planning Society have come together to offer seed grants to groups who want to promote health in the community.
Health Service Administrator, Cormac Hikish says the money is available to any individual or group who wants to start a project aimed at improving the health of the community.
“There might be initiatives focused on senior or youth or children, healthy eating, active lifestyles, tobacco reduction or reducing alcohol use. all of those areas that might improve the health and livelihood of the area we live in.”
He says there is fifteen thousand dollars in grant money available with maximum grants of three thousand dollars.
