Former BC Lion raising abuse awareness

JR LaRose is making stops in the Northwest to teach residents about domestic violence issues.

Apart of his “Be More than a Bystander” tour, the One Arrow First Nation member and former BC Lion is stopping communities all over the Province.

Northern Society for Domestic Peace spokesperson Carol Seychuk says violence is an important topic that needs to be talked about.

“It validates people’s experience when they have lived the experience of violence and abuse. That’s how we’re going to change is when we support one another to not be a bystander.”

LaRose will be at the Hazelton Secondary School at 1 and Kispiox Hall at 6. He’ll stop at Smithers Secondary at 9:30 AM Thursday and Moricetown at noon.
