Smithers will be represented in the newest season of the Amazing Race Canada.
Rob Goddard was born and raised in Smithers before moving to Vancouver after high school.
He and fellow bartender, Ryan Steele paired up to compete in season two of the show after failing to be selected for season one.
“It was just an insane trip. We meet amazing people from across Canada. The emotions that go through your head are unbelievable, it sucks in a way. You can think you are in last place and you see all these other teams go ahead of you and you are stuck at a challenge. And then the next thing you know, you are in first place.”
Goddard’s advice for anyone wanting to try out for the show: Choose your teammate wisely.
“It’s one of those things where you really have to choose your partner carefully because the emotions that are involved are just insane. You have to know it’s someone that you can get along with, stay calm with and stay focused with…But it’s the trip of a lifetime so don’t be afraid to sign up.”
