Young parents in Burns Lake can breathe a sign of relief.
The College of New Caledonia’s Acting Vice President of Community and Student Services Barbara Old says the service will continue until the school year ends.
“We’ve received enough money from the Ministry of Advanced Education to keep the day care until June 30th,” she says.
Old says the school is looking for a not-for-profit to pick up the responsibilities in September.
The CNC service is one of a few looking for new organizers while the school deals with budget cuts and restructuring. Other services include the Family Centered Program, Kid’s Edge, Hasadeendee, Prenatal Nutrition, and Early Intervention Services.
The school says that “the new agencies and organizations which will provide these programs and services are currently notifying clients and working with CNC to help facilitate a smooth transition.”
