Telkwa Council is re-evaluating how it’ll take care of road dust.
Some miscalculating meant the already agreed upon storage tanks and applications will cost more than expected, so it’s back to the drawing board.
Mayor Darcy Repen says Council has hired a contractor to take care of this season’s road dust while it figures out its next step.
“Now that we’re getting this early application through the contractor, we can take a little bit of time, do some accurate math, go through our director of public works and through Council, and make a really strong, informed decision moving forward,” he says.
Repen adds there was no money lost because Council learned about the real prices before spending the $10,000 on storage tanks.
The road dust application will be laid this week.
