Ranger Park Preschool will close for good.
Smithers Council decided to close the preschool at its meeting Tuesday night. The town was subsidizing about 50% of the programs budget, which was $36,000 last year.
Mayor Taylor Bachrach says it wasn’t easy to end the program.
“Sometimes council has to make tough decisions and over time, our services change in response to demand so one thing we’re seeing now that might not have been the case in the past is that there are a number of child care providers in the community,” he says.
The school’s last day will be June 30th.
