Summer camp needs money to keep doors open for disadvantaged campers

A camp near Houston is seeking donations to keep it’s doors open for disadvantaged summer campers.

Volunteer Andrew Hillaby says Rough Acres Bible Camp’s Campership Fund helps bring kids to the camp who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford to go but the fund is down to its last one hundred dollars.

“As of probably tomorrow we will probably have to turn away kids who cannot afford to camp.”

He says the fund needs another three to four thousand dollars.

Hillaby says the camp is also seeking more cooks and male volunteers for the junior and intermediate boys camps.

He says 25 to 30 per cent of the campers at Rough Acres have to utilize the Campership Fund to be able to attend.

Anyone who wants to donate can visit www.roughacres.org.
