Burns Lake working on water conservation

Burns lake now has a plan to step up its water conservation in the Village.

On average, Environment Canada notes the Village uses about 50 fewer litres of water per day per capita than most Canadians. Council still thinks there’s room to save, and decided this week to improve its water-saving efforts.

Mayor Luke Strimbold says it’s time to get to work.

“Now that we have a plan we’re really going to roll up our sleeves and get into each of those items. It’s not going to happen overnight, we’re going to take our time and make sure we do our due diligence for a number of the items in the plan,” he says.

Some councilors had ideas like in-home kits, and stronger lawn watering enforcement.

Staff will go through the plan and create a budget and timeline for the municipality.
