The Burns Lake old “Welcome Fish” is up for grabs.
The wooden landmark, that once welcomed visitors to the Village and residents back home, is just sitting in storage.
Many people have asked the Village office for it, which is why Mayor Luke Strimbold says Council decided to hold a “Who Will Catch the Fish” event.
“We’ve had expressions of interest for the fish previously so we just want to make it’s an open and fair process for anyone interested in hosting the fish at their local business or site,” she say.
Local resident Janet MacAdam wants it outside her work at the Trading Post and has already contacted Council about it.
“I’m patriotic, I love our town, I try to promote it all the time. I’m passionate about it,” she says.
Each bid will be a written submission. Council also invites anyone to make a presentation at an upcoming meeting.
