Teachers, Parents, Union Leaders rally for schools in Prince George

Over 200 people rallied outside School District 57’s Office Building in Prince George last night.

BC Teacher Federation President Jim Iker was in attendance and says he came as a series of rallies are being held across the province.

Iker says the BCTF will be meeting informally with the government’s chief negotiator today (WED) to find a way forward in negotiations.

He says they are only 1% off of wages in getting a contract signed, but he says the province still needs to bring enough funding to address learning conditions.

Iker was on a speakers list that included BD Federation of Labour President Jim Sinclair, along with reps from Unifor, the United Steelworkers Union and Prince George Teachers Association.
