Smithers Mothers Day Run

There was a record turnout this Mother’s Day Run in Smithers according to Peter Krause owner of McBike – he put the run on to raise money for the Smithers Diabetes Foundation. He says there were over 200 people running and over $2,000 raised.

“The 5-k Race we had a couple of high school students that we’re on the cross-country running team, and cross country skiing team. They had a pretty good race with one of the local fast runners Cormac Hikisch,” says Krause. He’s been organizing the run for 10-15 years.

“We used to choose a different charity every year,” Explains Krause. He says they’ve been raising money for the Smithers Diabetes Foundation for 7-8 years.

“The fact that it’s for the local Diabetes Foundation you know that all the dollars stay in town.”
