Ramona Wilson Music Festival

Over 20 years have passed since Kathy Frank has seen her friend Ramona Wilson. Wilson’s murder has never been solved after her body was found near the Smithers airport in 1995. She went missing a year earlier.

Frank has decided to remember her friend Ramona through a music festival she plans to put on in June.

“It doesn’t have to be such a dark thing all the time. Sometimes we have to shine a little light on dark situations to make things happen,” says Frank.

It’s also about awareness, says Frank. She reminds girls about the dangers of hitchhiking – especially along The Highway of Tears which is Highway 16 between Prince George and Prince Rupert.

“I’m hoping that one day they’ll have a shuttle bus between some of these reserves so they’re only option isn’t to just hitchhike.”

for the Music Festival, she’s inviting local acts and a wide variety of musicians. Frank will be singing there herself with her own music she wrote for her friend Ramona Wilson. The music festival is scheduled for June 11th and will compliment The Ramona Lisa Wilson Memorial Walk.
