Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako is a little unclear on the rules when it comes to the rights over using water, especially out of the Litte Bulkley Lake.
“When somebody like a pipeline company gets a water use permit on a creek it doesn’t preempt agriculture,” says Chairperson Bill Miller. He wants the new water sustainability act explained on who has priority over water usage.
“Is there a possible water protection for someone? Especially in the rural interface. If we dry those creeks up, are we losing possible fire protection for homes?”
He says the water sustainability act isn’t clear.
