Smithers’ Donations to Fort Mac, Red Cross

Citizens of Smithers have done a great job in recent weeks collecting money for Fort McMurray through the Red Cross.

Safeway in Smithers was able to collect 16 thousand dollars according to their general manager.

“The companies matching donations of up to $100,000. It’s bee a great success. it’s been a testament to the people of smithers for sure. Right now we’re still collecting donations.”

And the Mac Donalds in town sold 695 big macs giving a dollar form each sold to the Fort Mac cause says owner Shayne Dudeson.

“We thank everyone for participating, it was a good effort. We’ll make sure all the money gets to the people of Fort McMurray,” says Dudeson.

Canada-wide, McDonalds was able to raise one million dollars to the Red Cross.
