There will be no boards on one side of the rink come next hockey season. Council has decided to remove the damaged boards for $5000, but won’t be replacing anything right now, explains Mayor Taylor Bachrach.
“It looks like we’re going to be trying this winter with no boards – see if that’s a possibility,” says Bachrach.
He says there needs to be more planning and a long-term solution for fixing the rink.
“If someone comes forward from the community with an idea that could see some volunteer effort or donations to fix the rink, that would be fantastic.”
The town estimated the costs of replacing all the boards for around $25,000.
