Northwest Community College has eased the financial burden for students with some bursary money.They were able to raise 23 thousand dollars at their golf tournament this year for bursaries, explains Regional Director Regina Saimoto.
“We’re closer to establishing an endowment for bursaries in the future. The money that is raised through the golf tournament is earmarked for students from the Bulkley Valley,” says Saimoto.
The bursary money for the students also helps the local economy, explains Saimoto.
“If somebody is trained in the north they’re more likely to be an employee that stays with that company in the north and build that local labour force.”
They had over 16 sponsorships for the Golf Tournament.
