Lightning sparks blaze in Telkwa range

Fire crews are currently fighting a blaze in the Telkwa Mountain Range.

Fire information officer Olivia Pojar says the fire was sparked by lightning.

“It’s approximately three to five hectares in size and we have crews on site currently. We also have two helicopters, some heavy equipment and there are air tankers actioning it right now.”

She says the fire can be seen from parts of Houston.

No word yet on when the fire is expected to be completely extinguished.
