BC’s unemployment ranking lower than national average

BC continues to outperform Canada when it comes to the unemployment rate.

Stats Canada Labour Division Analyst, Vince Ferrao broke down the May numbers.

“The unemployment rate of 6.1% is below the national average of 6.9%. On a year over year basis, there was very slow growth at the national level which saw employment grow by only 0.6% compared to B.C.’s 3% increase.”

In BC, 69,500 more people were working last month which accounts for the 3% increase.
