Smithers council looks to create asset management at tonight’s meeting

The Town of Smithers is looking to create an asset management plan for infrastructure including water sewer and storm.

Council will look to spend 3 thousand dollars to apply for the 10 thousand dollar grant to create the asset management plan.

the town was previously denied a 100 thousand dollar grant for the plan – the application for that costs 7 thousand dollars.

Town staff doesn’t have the capacity to prepare the application.

The town estimates the total asset management plan for sewer, water, and storm assets would sit at 60 thousand dollars.
