Smithers council will be covering a letter from the minister of the environment, Northern Gateway and the Environmental Bill of Rights Act.
northern gateway is going through the public feedback portion of their 3-year extension plans for the project. They’ve written to the council for correspondence. The NEB allows comments from the public until June 27th
Council also received a letter from the Minister of the Environment concerning the environmental assessment of the Pacific NorthWest LNG Project with concerns council has with potential effects of the Project on fish and fish habitat, including Flora Bank
And the provincial Environment bill of rights will also hit council’s desk in a letter from MLA Andrew Weaver saying Smithers is part of the David Suzuki Foundation’s Blue Dot Tour, making the declaration about the right our citizens have to a healthy environment.
