Northern Health has a new chief medical health officer.
Dr. Sandra Allison is replacing Dr. Ronald Chapman in leading the public health team in promoting healthy living, preventing illness and managing outbreaks.
“I’m really thrilled to be here and I am really excited about all the work that has gone on before me there has been a lot of really good foundational work that has gone on. At this point and time in my experience here I am working hard on trying to get up to speed on all the good work that everyone is doing now.”
Allison comes from rural Manitoba and says she was attracted to working for Northern Health because of its emphasis on connecting remote places with health programs.
She will spend her early days getting up know the conditions of the region and collecting data for long-term projects.
