The Ministry of Environment says reports of a lost python in Burns Lake may just be rumours.
Conservation officer, Jeff Palm says he has been unable to confirm reports that a pet python is on the loose in the Lake Babine Nation area.
“It was just kind of a rumour that somebody heard in passing of a snake that may have escaped. Somebody said maybe they say it on Centre Street. And so it has kind of snowballed from there.”
Palm says if someone actually sees it officers will come out.
There may be some truth to the rumour however.
Palm says back in May a three-foot python was found on the sidewalk in Smithers after it had escaped a home.
