Smithers makes marketing agreement in hopes to lease airport land

The Town of Smithers has plans to market some un-used light industrial land at their airport with a 5 thousand dollar marketing agreement.

Mayor Taylor Bachrach says there’s been plans to utilise the land at the airport for some time by council, and says an agreement with an aviation company could help that along.

“Developing those light industrial lands at the airport has long been a goal of council. We haven’t seen as much uptake as we’ve wanted. And here’s an opportunity to partner with a company that has extensive experience in the industry,” says Bachrach.

Council decided last night to make an 18-month agreement with the company executive flight centre development for a marketing strategy, with an ultimate goal of leasing the land.

“The marketing project is a relatively short period. 18 months isn’t long. It gives us a chance to see if it works out,” says Bachrach.

Bachrach hopes they can bring more interest from investors to the airport.

Executive Flight Centre Developments also works with the Terrace airport.
