Skeena NDP MP Nathan Cullen says the federal government needs to step up to negotiations with the Gitxsan to avoid tension after this summer.
After meeting with the Gitxsan Treaty Society, Cullen is calling on senior staff and politicians in the DFO, Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development to sit down with the Gitxsan.
He says the Gitxsan’s eviction notice is a clear sign that the nation is frustrated by a lack of respectful talks with the federal government.
