Village of Telkwa recipient of ‘Open for Business Award’

The Village of Telkwa was one of five municipalities that won the ‘Small Business Round Table’s Open For Business Award’ at the Union of BC Municipalities convention today.

It recognized the village for efforts in boosting economic growth through supporting small business.

“One of the beauties of having a small (village) like that is we can interact with businesses in a way bigger centres can’t,” says Mayor Darcy Repen.

The award touted Telkwa’s investments to revitalize Hankin Corner through restoration and development for the municipal building.

The Village is still working out how to complete renovations in that building.

“There’s is opportunity, there is space available (in that building). There are opportunities in other spaces, too.”
