It might not be as cold and snowy of a winter as earlier predicted for the north.
Environment Canada was predicting La Nina, the counterpart to El Nino, that would bring colder temperatures and snow.
With more recent predictions, Meteorologist Matt MacDonald says we’ll just be flirting with the icy ocean/atmospheric phenomenon.
“We’ve seen really snowy El Nino winters and snowy neutral winters. When it is La Nina, things are a little more certain. But just because we’re not expecting a strong La Nina, doesn’t mean it will be a total blow out.”
MacDonald says the next few weeks will see significant rain, with most of October predicted to be warmer than the average recorded temperature.
Temperatures were half a degree hotter in September and 2 degrees hotter in August, with nearly twice the regular recorded rainfall.
