The Bulkley Valley Community Foundation is looking to raise 25 thousand dollars for an endowment fund by the end of the year.
Chair of the foundation Sean Mitchell says they secure about 30 thousand dollars in grant funding each year for community non profit projects.
“And it will increase the amount of money given out each year. We’re at about 7,000 dollars right now,” says Mitchell.
Over the weekend they celebrated their 25th anniversary looking back at 600 thousand dollars in grants to local organizations over the foundation’s life.
the Smithers Ski and Snow board were the the winners of the 25 hundred dollar draw at the celebration.
“One of the goals of this celebration was to create awareness,” of the grants that are available for non profits, explains Mitchell.
