The Regional District of Bulkley Nechako has issued an evacuation order for the China Nose area. The area stretches south from Heading Creek Forest Service Road, west to Equity Creek Road, east to and including Crow Creek Road and north to Day Lake Road. Regional District Chair Bill Miller says this also includes Forest Dale Canyon Road, Bulkley Lake, Day Lake, and Elwin Lake.
“So the boundary has come eastward a bit,” says Miller, “and the alert has also come eastward quite a bit, its come as far as the north road, the road that the off highway service road into the Decker Lake area.”
Miller says people in this evacuation zone are asked to leave the area immediately. They are asked to register at the Burns Lake Heritage Centre.
Also an evacuation order is in effect for the north east half of Tetachuck Lake, from the north bank of Uchu Reach to Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako Electoral Area ‘E’ 1.5 kilometers south of Chedakuz Forest Service Road where it meets the boundary of the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako Electoral Area ‘E’ (François/Ootsa Lake Rural); and from the eastern boundary of Entiako Park to the eastern and southern boundary of the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako Electoral Area ‘E’ François/Ootsa Lake Rural, and meeting the Evacuation Order Area in the North, as per attached map as shown on the attached map.
