Reports of a shooting near Smithers turned out to be a false alarm following a police investigation.
RCMP apprehended a woman under the Mental Health Act on Saturday in relation to the incident near town.
Police say the young woman involved requires medical assistance and is in the care of physicians.
The RCMP are releasing no additional information at this time.
