BC’s jobless rate falls to 4.9% in September

BC reclaimed the lowest jobless rate in Canada last month according to Stats Canada.

“We had an unemployment rate of 4.9% and that’s down 0.7 percentage points from a year ago, we had 2,473,300 people working, which represents an increase of 85,000 from a year ago,” says Vince Ferrao, Labour Division Analyst.

The sectors that experienced the most growth were construction, manufacturing as well as healthcare and social assistance.

In Canada, the unemployment was way higher at 6.2%.
