International Mental Health Day was celebrated with a burger BBQ and contest over at HIGH ROAD Services Society in Smithers yesterday.
Executive Director Dana Gorbahn with HIGH ROAD says they’re working to increase awareness through a partnership with Work BC.
“At HIGH ROAD Services Society; we work with adults with developmental disabilities. But, I mean, this is a social service/community issue. And it’s important for everyone to recognize the struggles that people have and the opportunities that are there for them,” says Gorbahn.
Gorban says employment is a significant factor for people to have a healthy and fulfilling life.
The World Health Organization also says our experience in the workplace is a factor in our overall wellbeing considering it’s where we spend most of our adult life.
