UPDATE: Bulkley and Nautley Rivers downgraded

After many weeks of flood speculation, residents of the Bulkley Valley and Lakes District will be happy to know the High Streamflow advisory for both the Bulkley and Nautley Rivers has ended.

Here’s the official statement that was given by the BC River Forecast Centre.

“With easing temperatures and diminished mid-elevation and upper-elevation snow packs, snow melt runoff have been decreasing and river levels have been declining. On the Nautley River, flows are slowly declining but remain high. Cooler conditions are expected through this week, and river levels are expected to continue to recede.”

The BC River Forecast Centre says they will continually monitor both the Bulkley and Nautley Rivers. At this time, it seems as though the threat of flooding is very minimal.

Officials are still asking members of the public to exercise caution around any body of water.
