The Ministry of Forests Lands and Natural Resources is reminding campers to behave themselves this holiday weekend.
The Ministry’s Art Moi says officers will be patrolling Terrace, Kitimat, Hazelton, Houston and Burns Lake recreation sites for campers committing violations.
“Some of the ticketable offences run from a fine of about $58 for minor things like not having your pet on a leash all the way up to $545 for things like damage to the environment or inappropriate use of fire.”
He says officers will be looking for fire violations, environmental damage, vandalism, noise and disturbance violations, uninsured recreation vehicles and violations of campground rules.
