River waters rising

Water levels on the Bulkley River are rising.

The B.C. River Forecast Centre is warning of a high streamflow for the Bulkley River near Smithers.

The centre says warm temperatures, rapid snow melt and weekend rains have combined to create the rising water levels.

The Bulkley River at Quick is rising 11 centimeters a day while the river near Smithers has risen 12 centimeters since Saturday and continues to rise half a centimeter an hour.

With more rain in the forecast the centre predicts river levels to remain elevated through the week.
