Prince Rupert Gas Transmission has announced another Project Agreement regarding their natural gas pipeline, this time with the Gitanyow.
The two have come together to ensure environmental safety for the natural gas pipeline project.
TransCanada spokesman Davis Sheremata says the pipeline is not only greener but will also be an economical for the Gitanyow.
“The first nations will receive significant benefits, not only in terms of financial compensation but in contracting opportunities, investments and skills training, and those will benefit the members of the Gitanyow for many years to come,” he says.
Sheremata says they added over 150 kms of pipeline in response to environmental concerns brought forward by the First Nations
The proposed project would deliver natural gas from the northeast part of the province to Prince Rupert.
